Because Field Trips are Fun?

The Atlantic has a mini-video on a slavery museum based in Louisiana, purported to be America's only slavery museum. The work of the museum, located at Whitney Plantation, will undoubtedly be important. It's great to see an American counterpart to sites like Senegal's Goree Island that attracts tourists each year attempting to wrap their heads around the slavery experience and America's founding. Guided tours are offered and are the only way to view the museum which also features restored and seemingly contemporary artwork. If you want more insight into what the experience is like, you can visit the website, and also check out the twitter account, AfAmHistoryFail, which chronicles an anonymous docent's experience on an unnamed historical plantation. Are you ready for the ignorance on the way to enlightenment? Would you visit Whitney Plantation?
